Illinois back at No. 14 -- again -- in latest poll

Feb. 12—CHAMPAIGN — Illinois' stay in the top 10 of the Associated Press Top 25 was again a short one. Saturday's 88-80 loss to Michigan State dropped the Illini to No. 14 — again — when the latest poll was released Monday afternoon.

Illinois (17-6, 8-4 Big Ten) has vacillated between No. 10 and No. 14 in each of the last six polls. The Illini will return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Michigan at State Farm Center and also play at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Maryland.

The Big Ten held steady with three ranked teams this week. Purdue maintained its hold on the No. 2 spot behind Connecticut, while Wisconsin fell nine spots to No. 20 after losing twice last week to extend its swoon to four straight games. Michigan State and Northwestern were among other teams receiving votes.
