Illini hold off Gophers at State Farm Center

Feb. 28—CHAMPAIGN — No. 13 Illinois pulled away from Minnesota down the stretch to secure a 105-97 Big Ten win at State Farm Center on Wednesday night.

After facing a slim deficit early in the second half, a jumper from Terrence Shannon Jr. allowed Illinois (21-7) to claim a 64-63 lead with 13:54 remaining in the second half. Illinois never trailed again en route to its second consecutive win.

Shannon paced Illinois with 29 points and six rebounds, while Marcus Domask chipped in 22 points and seven rebounds and Coleman Hawkins contributed 20 points.

Dawson Garcia paced Minnesota with a game-high 29 points and Cam Christie chipped in 23 points of his own.
