ICYMI: Aspen Nails Halloween with ‘The Shining’ Remake
This article originally appeared on Ski Mag
In honor of Halloween weekend, we are throwing it back to when Aspen really upped their Spooky Szn game, putting out a pretty on-point commercial spoof of a horror flick classic. Harnessing The Shining, this short will surely get a giggle, or at least a nod of approval, from frothers everywhere. Trick or treat, maggots.
FIS vs. POW...who ya got?
Protect Our Winters (POW) took a shot at the International Federation of Skiing (FIS) last week, posting pictures of the organization allegedly harvesting snow from glaciers to build its early season race courses (images that have since been attributed to a singular incident on a different glacier in 2019). Of course, the internet took those images and ran with them, all but declaring FIS the devil's spawn. FIS shot back this week, declaring POW a menace that ignores progress and innovation in favor of chaos and rumor-mongering. Seems like we've got ourselves a real title bout here. Who's got your money?
New Hampshire resort stomps 180, returns to action.
It's a Halloween miracle! Just a few weeks out from announcing its indefinite closure, community ski staple Black Mountain of New Hampshire announced that it will reopen and spin bull wheels this season. The resurrection is largely due to the Indy Pass crew, who have pledged to help the mountain find a buyer ahead of next season if they stay open this year. This is the news we love to see. Ski you out there, New Hampshire!
Meanwhile, on the East Coast...
They don't say "Born From Ice" for nothing. Ski Ward in Massachusetts appears to have logged the first official turns of the year this week, but these might have a case.
