Florida Power & Light getting power back on: 325,000 restored in Collier and Lee

Utility companies are working around the clock to restore power to residences and businesses in Southwest Florida.

Roughly 24% of Lee County Electric Cooperative customers have restored power. That includes some customers in Cape Coral, North Fort Myers and Marco Island.

Pine Island and Sanibel continue to be powerless.

Florida Power & Light says it has more than 21,000 workers from 30 states in Florida working to restore power.

Here are the outages with FPL as of Sunday at 10 a.m.

Collier: 55,250 out; restored power to 173,290; 228,540 affected

Lee: 132,930 out; restored power to 152,140; 285,070 affected

“Lee County Electric Cooperative continues to expand its restoration efforts in the wake of Hurricane Ian, Denise Vidal, chief executive officer of LCEC, said in a news release. "More resources are being brought in daily as we work to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. This unprecedented recovery requires a substantial rebuild in the hardest hit communities.”

Dozens of first responders were spotted along I-75 North in Collier County on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2022, one day after Hurricane Ian swept through the area.

LCEC employees are working around-the-clock to restore power and has brought in 1,000 workers.

Here is outage information as of Sunday 10 a.m.

Marco Island - 9,,123 out, 10,459 restored

Immokalee- 2,742 out, 12,998 restored

Lehigh Acres - 8,824 out, 24,302 restored

North Fort Myers - 50,670 out, 5,609 restored

Cape Coral - 89,778 out, 4,498 restored

Pine Island - 7,398 out, none restored

Sanibel - 10,946 out, none restored

LCEC has customers in six counties, which are Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, Miami-Dade, and Glades.

In Lee, LCEC serves residences in Cape Coral, Pine Island, Burnt Store Marina and Lehigh Acres in Lee County. In Collier, it serves Marco Island, Goodland, Everglades City, and Ave Maria.
