TCU earned their first victory in Stillwater since not only joining the Big 12 but since 1991. The Horned Frogs defeated the Oklahoma State Cowboys 44-31. Let’s look at some of the highlights that helped TCU pull off the upset.

Anderson gives TCU the lead and doesn’t look back

A pair of field goals on their two opening possessions gave TCU a 6-0 lead. However, an 86-yard touchdown pass from Mason Rudolph to James Washington put the Frogs behind 7-6. TCU’s third drive ended with a 28-yard touchdown run by Darius Anderson. The score gave the Frogs the lead, which they wouldn’t lose for the remainder of the game.

Banogu forces the turnover and the offense capitalizes

If TCU wanted to win against OSU, the defense would have to force turnovers. It wouldn’t take long for them to deliver. On the Cowboys first drive of the second quarter, Ben Banogu sacked Rudolph, forcing a fumble that was recovered by Corey Bethley. The Frogs took over on offense and capped off a drive of their own with Kenny Hill finding John Diarse in the end zone to put TCU up 20-7 over OSU.

The Frogs open the second half by taking away OSU’s momentum

The Cowboys elected to receiver the football to start the second half. To open the third quarter with a touchdown would swing the momentum is OSU’s favor. Thankfully, the Frogs defense didn’t allow this. Chris Bradley, a defensive tackle, intercepted Rudolph, setting up TCU with great field position. The Frogs offense capitalized on the turnover with a six-yard touchdown run by Anderson, extending TCU’s lead 27-10.

OSU’s going to score… Orr not

With just over seven minutes remaining in the game, the Cowboys were down by 13 points and starting to heat up. OSU was in scoring position but decided to get greedy and try a trick play. The Cowboys attempted a double pass but Nick Orr didn’t bite on the play and intercepted the pass by Jalen McCleskey.

Anderson with the dagger and Collier seals the win

The Frogs were facing a crucial third down with 2:37 left to play. OSU had scored on their pervious drive to cut TCU’s lead to six. The Frogs need to convert this third down to be able to run more time off the clock. Anderson delivered and more with a 42-yard touchdown run that put TCU up 44-31. L.J. Collier would intercept Rudolph on OSU’s next possession officially sealing the win for the Frogs.
