Hue Jackson hopes Browns players will stand for the National Anthem

It’s been an issue across the headlines ever since the seat that Kaepernick took as a sign of protest, and this season it’s been brought up once more. With Kaepernick out of the league (at least for now) the protest continued in the form of Seahawk Michael Bennett sitting during the National Anthem.

Bennett would later emphasize his love for the military and his reasons for the protests after the game, but his protest still sparked controversy throughout the football world, including Browns training camp.

After a training camp day where the Browns kept working towards the next preseason game (August 21^st against the Giants), Coach Hue Jackson was asked about players taking seats on his team for the national anthem. Jackson had this to say:

“I think everybody has a right to do, and I get it, but the National Anthem means a lot to myself personally, the organization and our football team. I hope–again I can’t speak, I haven’t really talked to our team about it–I would hope that we don’t have those issues.”
