Nick Folk connected on a 21-yard field goal as the New England Patriots overcame a 13-point deficit to beat the Houston Texans 25-22 Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

In a battle of rookie quarterbacks, Houston’s Davis Mills was statistically better with 305 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions, Jones led New England on a 15-play, 84-yard drive to get the game-winning score.

The Texans came up with two takeaways as cornerback Terrance Mitchell forced a fumble of running back Damien Harris that was recovered by defensive tackle Jaleel Johnson in the end zone for a touchback. Safety Lonnie Johnson also got his second career interception as he picked off Mac Jones.

Kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn missed three kicks: a 56-yard field goal and two extra points.

The Patriots’ ground game was able to cultivate a 4.2 yards per carry as they had 126 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries.

With 5:18 to go in the game, referee Scott Novak penalized Texans defensive tackle Maliek Collins with roughing the passer on a third-and-18 from the New England 29-yard line. The pass fell incomplete, but the penalty let the Patriots off the mat. The game-winning drive continued, and Folk hit the 21-yard field goal after a 15-play, 84-yard drive.

Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil left the game with a hand injury, but returned in the fourth quarter. However, he was back in the blue medical tent by the end of the game.

Houston falls to 1-4 and go on the road next week to play the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium.
