In his three NFL seasons, Houston Texans safety Justin Reid has made plays to help his team.

Through 40 starts, the 24-year-old has five interceptions, three fumble recoveries and 249 tackles. But in the Texans' preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday, Reid made a different type of impact – as a kicker.

Reid told reporters he was the emergency kicker in college at Stanford and has been in the same role with the Texans. With kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn experiencing a minor muscle pull in warmups, the Houston coaching staff turned to Reid.

The 2018 third-round draft pick kicked off three times and assisted on the tackle following his last attempt. His first attempt went to the opposing 1-yard line.

"FINALLY GOT TO DO IT," Reid wrote on Twitter afterward. "No lie, this is the most fun I’ve ever had in a preseason game. Will remember this forever. Dreams do come true. I’m ready for (field goals) next time."

Texans head coach David Culley said that if the Houston offense drove beyond the 24-yard line late in the game, Reid would have had a field goal try. Unfortunately for Reid, the team could not advance to that point. The Texans attempted 2-point conversions after both touchdowns.

"I was ready the whole game," Reid said, via ESPN. "I don't know if you (saw) me on the sideline. I had my helmet strapped every time we were down there to see if I would get to go out there."

That didn't stop Reid from soaking in the moment.

"I had the time of my life," he said. "I’ve been looking forward to this moment for so long."
