Hokies in top five for a new offer

Virginia Tech offered Lincoln (Neb.) Southeast DT Bryson Williams barely a week ago, but they've made an early impact. He named a top five list over the weekend, with the Hokies firmly in the mix.

Duke, Iowa, Iowa State, and Kansas State are also in the mix for the three-star. Several mid-major and Ivy League programs are among those who are no longer under consideration.

The 6-2, 293-pounder camped in Blacksburg last weekend, which is when he picked up the honor of an opportunity to play for the Hokies. While he's primarily considered a defensive tackle, VT's coaches have told him they like him on either side of the ball, a potential interior offensive lineman in addition to his more polished game on D.

Williams plans to announce a college commitment soon, so VT will not have to wait to find out if the late charge will ultimately pay off.
