Hockey Roundup: Willmar Cardinals shut out Sartell/Sauk Rapids, 4-0

Jan. 11—SAUK RAPIDS — The Willmar girls hockey team earned a shutout victory over Sartell/Sauk Rapids at Sports Arena East on Thursday.

Willmar won 4-0 to improve to 4-4-0 in the Central Lakes Conference and 12-5-0 overall. Sartell/Sauk Rapids is 1-6-0 in conference play and 4-13-1 overall.

Makenna Larson scored a pair of goals for the Cardinals, one of which came on the power-play.

Also scoring for Willmar were Becca Dawson at even strength and Lily Jorgenson on the power play.

Willmar's Lauren Eilers had three assists and Hannah Bredesen had two assists. Dawson, Chloe Lownsbury and Avery Olson each had an assist.

Erin Eilers earned a shutout between the pipes, making 26 saves for the Cardinals.

Willmar plays host to Fergus Falls at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at Willmar.

Bria Larson scored in the second period and Natalie Kayser made 35 saves in net in River Lakes' tie with Buffalo at the Buffalo Civic Center.

Buffalo's Kaiya Johnson knotted the game at 1-1 at 11 minutes, 47 seconds of the third period.

River Lakes plays host to St. Cloud Crush at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at River Lakes Civic Arena.

Mound-Westonka/Southwest Christian's Brelynn Koehler scored a pair of goals and Emma Covell had a 14-save shutout in the White Hawks' win against Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato at Thaler Hockey Arena in Mound.

The Dragons' netminder, Janell Quast, made 38 saves on 44 shots faced.

Litchfield/D-C plays Moose Lake at 7 p.m. Friday at Riverside Ice Arena.

River Lakes earned its third straight win against Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato at Koronis Civic Arena in Paynesville.

Litchfield/D-C (3-11-1) plays host to Southwest Christian/Richfield at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Litchfield Civic Arena. River Lakes (7-5-2) plays Morris/Benson at 7 p.m. Friday at Lee Community Center in Morris.
