Hockey roundup: Willmar Cardinals girls' win streak moves to four

Jan. 23—WILLMAR — The Willmar Cardinals girls hockey team tallied its fourth straight victory on Tuesday.

Hosting Detroit Lakes at the Willmar Civic Center Arena, the Cardinals got the 8-0 victory.

Becca Dawson finished the game with two goals. Lauren Eilers, Avery Olson, Avery Quinn, Sophia Quinn, Ryah Gorans and Isabella Paulson also scored in the victory. For Paulson, a freshman, it was her first goal of her varsity career.

Goaltender Erin Eilers made nine saves in the win. It was her eighth shutout of the season.

Willmar plays Alexandria at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Runestone Community Center.

Camryn Iverson netted an overtime goal for Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato for a Wright County Conference win against Delano/Rockford at Litchfield Civic Center.

Both teams came into the game ranked in the Class A poll. Delano/Rockford is ranked 11th and Litchfield/D-C is 20th.

After two scoreless periods, the Tigers scored first on a goal from McKenzie Perry. Then with 4 minutes, 35 seconds left in regulation, the Dragons' Krista Tormanen tied it with assists from Iverson and Brynn Lund.

In net, the Dragons' Kira Kuechle made 25 saves.

Litchfield/D-C plays Prairie Centre at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sauk Centre Civic Arena.

Morris/Benson Area is 6-13-0 overall following its loss to Northern Lakes at the Breezy Point Hockey Center.

MBA plays Windom at 5 p.m. Friday at Windom Arena.

Sauk Rapids extended its undefeated streak to four games after beating Willmar in a Central Lakes Conference game at Sports Arena East in Sauk Rapids.

The Storm (8-8-3) are 3-0-1 in their last four games. Willmar (5-12-1) is still looking for its first CLC win, dropping to 0-7-0 in conference play.

The Cardinals next host Alexandria at 6 p.m. Thursday at Willmar Civic Center Arena.

Delano (11-6-1) cruised past Litchfield/Dassel-Cokato at Delano Area Sports Arena.

Mason Hargarten had two goals for Delano. Brody Geislinger, Bryce Peterson, Brady Kangas and Joseph McCabe each scored.

Litchfield/D-C (3-14-1) plays host to Hutchinson at 7 p.m. Friday at Litchfield Civic Arena.

River Lakes fell to 8-8-2 overall in a loss to Becker/Big Lake (9-6-0) at Princeton First Bank & Trust Ice Arena.
