Hit-run driver critically injures man crossing Brooklyn street

A hit-and-run driver plowed into a pedestrian crossing a Brooklyn street Thursday night, hitting the man so hard he sailed through the air and fell to the pavement critically injured, police and a witness said.

The 44-year-old victim was crossing Fourth Ave. near Bergen St. in Boerum Hill when a driver in a sedan slammed into him, said eyewitness Noel Vargas.

“He looked like he was crossing back and forth waiting for an Uber,” Vargas said.

The man flipped into the air and landed on the street’s median as the driver sped north on Fourth Ave.

“He cracked his head on the median. He was bleeding from his head and his mouth. His legs were twisted the wrong way,” Vargas said.

“The car kept speeding on. He turned left and headed to the BQE [Brooklyn-Queens Expressway]. Hopefully they find him or he has a conscience.”

Medics took the injured man to Methodist Hospital in critical condition, cops said.

“God bless him and I hope he survives,” Vargas said.

Police have made no arrests.
