Hilton's Hill, Penfield's Walsh lead Monroe County 2023-24 all-star selections

Hilton goaltender Aiden Hill and Penfield forward Sean Walsh have been named Monroe County’s top ice hockey players for the 2023-24 season.

The Monroe County Public School Athletic Conference released its first- and second-team all-star selections on Wednesday.

Walsh, a senior for the Patriots, finished tied for second in Section V scoring during the regular season. He tallied 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) in 20 games.

Hill, also a senior, appeared in 15 games for the Cadets and compiled a 10-5-0 record with two shutouts.

Walsh recorded at least one point in 15 games, including a pair of six-point efforts (Dec. 2 vs. Saratoga Catholic, Dec. 21 vs. Aquinas).

Among Section V goaltenders with at least 10 games played, Hill finished first in save percentage (.926) and fourth in goals against average (2.22 GAA).

Penfield coach Nate Miller was named the Monroe County league’s Coach of the Year. Miller, who has led the Patriots since the 2007-08 season, pushed the team to a 14-6-0 record.

Following a 2-3-0 start, Penfield reeled off wins in 12 of 13 games to capture the No. 3 seed in the Section V, Class A tournament.

This is Miller’s second coaching honor. He was also named Monroe County’s top bench boss in 2016-17.
