Highlights from Texas commits over the weekend

High school football programs all over the country kicked off their 2022 season over the weekend.

Texas’ talented 2023 class started the new season on a high note.

Five-star Arch Manning lead his school to a 20-13 victory in their season opener. Manning completed a number of big passes and won the game with a late 20-yard touchdown run.

DeSoto’s Johntay Cook took his first catch of the season for a 68-yard score. Cook displayed the burners, outrunning the opposing secondary to set the tone.

Running back Cedric Baxter went off for 232 yards and a touchdown leading his school to a season-opening victory.

Four-star wide receiver Jonah Wilson started his senior campaign with a bang. He made a handful of spectacular plays and snagged two touchdowns for Dekaney High School.

The Longhorns’ 2023 class currently sits No. 2 in the nation behind the Alabama Crimson Tide.
