Up next: Winner advances to play the Jackson-Massillon Perry winner in a regional semifinal on Nov. 2 at Hudson.

For the Record: After it dropped the first set against Austintown-Fitch, NDCL controlled the next three sets and advanced to the district final. Seniors Emma Blankenship and Reily Parent combined for 31 kills to guide the Lions. The defensive performance was equally as impressive for NDCL. Six players recorded double-digit digs, with McKenna Morrison at 17 and Abby Tolin at 16. The Lions are aiming for a repeat performance in the district final for a fifth straight trip to regionals. ... Twinsburg is in pursuit of its first regional trip, and a strong trio of attackers have led the Tigers to the doorstep. Genevieve Talentino leads the way with 3.4 kills per set, followed by Brooke Smith (2.6 kills per set) and Taylor Pucky (2.0). The Tigers have also seen strong back row play with Claire Grosel at 4.4 digs per set with Talentino (3.7 digs per set) hot on her heels. The block has had some nice games for Twinsburg as well in its run. But against the strength of the Lions' hitters, the Tigers will need the block to handle the mix of hitting that NDCL brings to the table.

Hercik's pick: NDCL
