High school sports roundup (Feb. 6)

Here's a roundup of high school varsity action on Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Girls basketball

Chesapeake-AA 63, Southern Maryland Christian Academy 30: Maggie Lawrence had 10 points and seven rebounds and Emily and Kasey Slade each scored eight points to lead the Cougars over the Mustangs.

Mount de Sales 53, Winters Mill 27: Mackenzie Conley scored 16 points and Shelby Lewis had 15 points to lead the host Sailors (18-4) to their 10th straight win. Mount de Sales travels to John Carroll on Friday to close out the regular season.

Broadneck 64, North County 13: The visiting Bruins opened with a 21-1 run and beat the Knights. Broadneck was led by Mackenzie Wharton (19 points), Ginger Kerdock (14 points) and Samantha Miller (10 points).

Boys basketball

Severn 60, Sandy Spring Friends 52: The host Admirals (17-10) were led by Jacob Randall (18 points), Corey Dixon (12 points) and Kingston Price (10 points) and beat the Quakers (19-6). The victory was the 12th straight. Severn will host Gerstell on Monday.

Lake Clifton 63, Green Street 31: Deon McPherson scored 17 points and JaZae Jones and Jermel Miles each scored 12 points to lead the visiting Lakers over the Chargers.

Fallston 81, North Harford 46: The host Cougars converted 10 steals into transition points and beat the Hawks. Fallston had 10 players score led by Oliver Rueckert (18 points, 9 rebounds), Brody Fitzkee(11 points) and Max Rueckert (10 points),

Century 50, Westminster 37: After the Owls led after one quarter, the Knights surged. All five Century scorers scored at least eight points with Jackson Smith leading with 11. Nathan Brown followed with 10, Ben Chenoweth and Peyton Conrad each scored nine and Tommy Dixon chipped in eight. Will Mollman had a double-double of 11 points and 12 rebounds for Westminster. Jah Donald finished with eight points and 15 rebounds.


Chesapeake-AA 48, Northeast 21: The Cougars beat the Eagles. Chesapeake got pins from Mason Szczeszek (106), Brayden Roberts (120), Keanu Furbush (175) and Gavin Lewis (190).

Manchester Valley 42, Walkersville 35: The Mavericks beat the Lions in regional duals. Manchester Valley got pins from Gunnar Grimm (190); Cru Boog (215); Wyatt Weinrich (285); Kyle Reid (106); Dakota Barnard (120); Beau Snell (132); Bradyn VanDerVoort (138).

2A West Region duals: Century split two matches in the regional dual tournament. The Knights beat Winters Mill, 46-27, but had its dual season come to an end with a 47-33 loss to Damascus in the quarterfinals. Dylan Vroom, Joey D'Orsogna, Talin Evans, JT Ferguson and Dominic Damico went 2-0 for the Knights.
