HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lady Indians rally to beat Lafayette, stay unbeaten

Mar. 18—The Lady Indians (4-0) never trailed while rolling to three victories in the opening week of the season.

On Monday, though, Madison Central faced a three-run deficit heading into the bottom of the fourth inning at home against 11th Region rival Lafayette (1-2).

The Lady Indians came charging back.

A pair of four-run inning lifted Central to a 10-4 win. The Lady Indians collected 13 hits and took advantage of six Lafayette.

Olivia Metcalfe was 4-for-4 with a double and scored three times. Cassidy Gentry was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. Brooklyn Guilbault was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.

Andrea Linton started in the circle and went 3 2/3 innings, allowing three hits, three runs and five walks with three strikeouts.

Gentry earned the win in relief, pitching 3 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run and one walk with four strikeouts.

Linton was 1-for-4 with three RBI and scored a run. Lina Guerra was 1-for-4 with two RBI. Mollie Neeley was 1-for-2 and scored twice. Devan Stewart was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Miley Cooke was 1-for-2.

The Lady Indians have out-scored their opponents 46-8 on the season.

Central is set to return to action Tuesday at Bryan Station.
