High school soccer roundup: Murray outlasts North Murray on PKs, Lady Indians shut out Lady Neers

Mar. 25—Boys Murray County beats North Murray on PKs

Murray County (4-8-1) took down North Murray (4-8) on penalty kicks in a Region 7-2A rivalry game Monday.

After North Murray put in a goal eight minutes into the game, Murray tied the game and forced overtime.

After two 10-minute overtime frames ended with the game still tied, the game went to penalty kicks.

Murray and North Murray were tied at 5-5 after the first five rounds of PKs. Murray then scored one to gain the advantage, and keeper Jakob Hendrickson clinched the game with a save, giving the Indians the win.

North Murray hosts Haralson County tonight at 7:30, while Murray travels to Gordon Central tonight at 7.

Dalton Academy 10, Chattooga 0

Despite receiving a red card and playing with just 10 players after five minutes, Dalton Academy (13-1) shut out Chattooga (1-10) 10-0 Monday.

Joe Gonzalez scored four goals to lead the Pumas, while Dani Perez and Andy Reynoso each scored two. Roany López and Jesus Arellano each scored a goal apiece.

Reynoso piled up four assists, and Perez had two. Gonzalez and Carlos Garcia each had one.

Dalton Academy hosts Southeast Whitfield on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Coahulla Creek 3, Bremen 1

After starting a game Friday night that was delayed because of a power outage, Coahulla Creek finished off its 3-1 Region 6-3A win over Bremen Monday.

Coahulla Creek (9-4-1) trailed 1-0 when the game was delayed Friday night at Bremen (9-2-2). The Colts made the trip again Monday and tied the game back up at 1-1 at half.

The Colts added two in the second half.

Miguel Arredondo, Nathen Camacho and Anderson Tobar scored goals for the Colts, and Arredondo assisted on two.

Creek travels to Adairsville tonight at 7.

Girls Murray County 4, North Murray 0

Murray County (7-7) blanked North Murray (3-6-1) 4-0 Monday night.

The Lady Indians scored a goal in the first 10 minutes of action and held a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Rosa Pedro Reynoso put in a final goal with 11 minutes left to make the score 4-0.

The Lady Mountaineers will return home to play Haralson County tonight at 5:30, while Murray travels to play Gordon Central tonight at 5.

Northwest Whitfield 4, Dade County 0

Northwest Whitfield (11-2-1) knocked off Dade County (9-5) 4-0 Monday night.

Lexi Lyon and Sadie Clark both had a goal and two assists. Meryl Clark and Jazmin Cortes both had a goal.

Northwest next plays Northside on April 9.
