High school soccer roundup: Dalton shuts out Southeast in rivalry game

Dalton 3, Southeast Whitfield 0

The first leg of El Clásico 2024 goes to the Dalton Catamounts.

Dalton (3-0) shut out Southeast Whitfield (0-4) in the Whitfield County rivalry 3-0 Tuesday night at Southeast, taking the first of two games the pair will play this season.

Rigo Torres scored two goals for Dalton. Chris Lopez assisted on one, and Darwin Peinado got the helper on the other. Diego Paez scored a goal that was assisted by David Saldana.

Dalton hosts Pace Academy Friday at 7:30, while Southeast plays Eastside at the same time.

Dalton and Southeast meet again on April 12, the regular season finale for both sides.

Northwest Whitfield 0, Rome 0 (tie)

Northwest Whitfield (0-0-2) has played two games this season, and both have ended in ties.

The Bruins played to a scoreless draw at Rome (3-0-1) Tuesday night.

Northwest plays at Coahulla Creek Thursday at 7 p.m.

Coahulla Creek 9, Murray County 0

Coahulla Creek (3-0-1) shot past Murray County (0-3) 9-0 Tuesday night in Varnell.

Omar Mendiola had four goals for the Colts. Nathen Camacho scored two. Jose Pacheco, Cruz Barcenas and Anderson Rivera each scored a goal. Camacho and Miguel Arredondo each picked up two assists, and Uxmal Macias had one.

Creek plays Northwest Whitfield at home Thursday night at 7, while Murray hopes to regroup Friday at home at 7:30 p.m. against Adairsville.


Coahulla Creek 5, Murray County 0

Coahulla Creek (3-1) blanked Murray County (1-2) 5-0 Tuesday night.

Lilli Johnson picked up two goals and an assist for Creek, and Nathalie Cuenca turned in a two-goal performance too. Jannie Estrada had a goal and Maya Carrizales collected an assist.

Coahulla Creek plays Northwest Whitfield at home at 5 p.m. Thursday, while Murray County hosts Adairsville Friday at 5 p.m.

Dalton 0, Allatoona 0 (tie)

Dalton (0-1-1) and Allatoona (1-0-2) played to a scoreless tie Tuesday night.

America Quintero helped preserve the Dalton shutout with 12 saves in goal for the Lady Catamounts.

Dalton hosts Pace Academy Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Southeast Whitfield 3, Rome 0

Southeast Whitfield moved to 3-0 on the year with a 3-0 win at Rome (1-2) Tuesday night.

Mayah Camacho put in two goals for the Lady Raiders, and Leighanne Torres scored one.

Southeast hosts Eastside Friday at 5:30 p.m.
