Crop comments: The Arcs solidified their already rock-solid standing in the Crop with a 16-point win over Akron SVSM. Brush plays Lutheran East and Dover to wrap up the regular season before embarking on what it hopes is a long tournament run. ... Gilmour lost to Olmsted Falls last week, but is still a solid No. 2. Their strength of schedule is one of the best in the state. A road game at Magnificat and home games with Brunswick and Copley are next — more toughies. ... Riverside makes a big leap from No. 5 to No. 3. The Beavers have won 10 in a row and might not lose again this regular season. They're on fire. ... Richmond Heights drops from No. 3 to No. 4 and Mentor from No. 4 to No. 5, but that's more of a function of how well Riverside is playing at this point. Richmond's rematch with Chagrin Falls on Feb. 10 will be for a CVC divisional title. ... Geneva has won three in a row and stays at No. 6. A game at Perry on Feb. 7 is a fine playoff primer for both teams. ... Madison stays at No. 7. The Blue Streaks host Edgewood on Feb. 7. Claire Wakim has been injured, so her status is key going forward for Madison. ... Perry moves up to No. 8 after handing Edgewood its first loss of the season. Games with Geneva, West G and Gilmour round out the regular season. ... Beaumont makes its Crop debut at No. 9. The Blue Streaks will finish second to Walsh in the Crown Conference, but it's been a great season so far. ... Chagrin gets the nod over Mayfield, Cornerstone and Chardon for the No. 10 slot.
