High school basketball roundup: Dalton's Harris hits 100 career wins in victory; J.D., Beau Ellis combine for 11 triples in North Murray win over Gordon Central

Jan. 30—Boys Coahulla Creek 50, Gordon Lee 44

Coahulla Creek (15-7) bounced back from a Region 6-3A loss to down Gordon Lee (5-15) 50-44 in region play Tuesday.

Cullen Marti led Creek with 15 points, while Teagan Houser notched 10 points.

The Colts are now 9-2 in region action.

Coahulla hosts Ridgeland Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Dalton 66, Cartersville 51

Dalton (10-12) continued its season resurgence with a 66-51 Region 7-5A win over Cartersville (9-12) Tuesday.

Drew Snyder led Dalton with 21 points, while CJ Weaver had 19 points and double-digit rebounds. Kobi Cooper scored 13, and Eli Burt put in nine.

Once 4-11, Dalton has won six of its last seven games. The win put Dalton at 4-3 in Region 7-5A play.

Dalton plays at Cass Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Murray County 74, Haralson County 34

Murray County (13-8) shot past Haralson County (5-17) 74-34 Tuesday.

Parker Hawkins put in 22 points, while Braxton Vineyard scored 16 for the Indians.

Murray is now 6-3 in Region 7-2A play.

Murray hosts Fannin County Friday night at 8:30.

North Murray 69, Gordon Central 60

J.D. and Beau Ellis combined for a shooting clinic as North Murray (16-4) downed Gordon Central (12-11) 69-60 Tuesday night in Region 7-2A action.

J.D. Ellis knocked down six 3-pointers and led North Murray with 23 points, while Beau Ellis hit five triples and netted 15 points. Isaiah Morrison scored 12, and Judson Petty had 11. The two Ellises hit a combined 11 triples, and North Murray finished with 13 as a team.

North Murray is at Rockmart Friday night at 7:30.

Heritage 54, Northwest Whitfield 42

Northwest Whitfield (15-8) dropped a Region 7-4A contest 54-42 at Heritage (11-11) Tuesday.

The Bruins are now 4-4 in Region 7-4A action.

Northwest hosts Sonoraville Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Central-Carrollton 80, Southeast Whitfield 19

Southeast Whitfield (2-21) couldn't keep pace with Central-Carrollton (20-3) as the Lions cruised their way to a 20th win this year with an 80-19 victory over the Raiders.

The Raiders play Heritage at 8:30 p.m. Friday.

Girls Dalton 65, Cartersville 52

The Dalton Lady Catamounts helped their head coach to a career milestone Tuesday night.

Dalton (14-8) knocked off Cartersville (12-10) 65-52, marking the 100th career win as a head coach for Dalton head coach Hannah Harris.

Harris, a Dalton graduate, also spent time, and got some of those victories, coaching at Murray County High.

Gracie Ridley scored 12 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, passed out five assists and grabbed four steals for the Lady Cats. Jolie Wingfield had 12 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Dalton improves to 6-1 in Region 7-5A play and is in first place in the region.

Dalton is at Cass Friday night at 7 p.m.

Coahulla Creek 49, Gordon Lee 39

Coahulla Creek collected its ninth win in row as the Lady Colts (16-5) downed Gordon Lee (4-19) 49-39 on Tuesday.

Aubree Langley scored 16 points, while Caroline Reed had 14. Shea Poe put in 10 points.

The Lady Colts improved to 10-1 in Region 6-3A with the win.

The Lady Colts play Ridgeland at 7 p.m. at home on Friday.

Murray County 51, Haralson County 40

Murray County (16-6) picked up a 51-40 road win over Haralson County (3-17) Tuesday.

Murray advances to 8-1 in Region 7-2A play.

The Lady Indians play Fannin County at 7 p.m. Friday at home.

Heritage 69, Northwest Whitfield 43

Northwest Whitfield (12-9) couldn't hand Heritage (18-4) its first Region 7-4A loss, dropping 69-43 Tuesday.

The Lady Bruins fell short despite 22 points and four 3-pointers from Sloan Pender. Northwest drops to 5-3 in the region.

The Lady Bruins host Sonoraville Friday at 7 p.m.

Central-Carrollton 33, Southeast Whitfield 17

Southeast Whitfield (6-16) dropped 33-17 to Central-Carrollton (10-10) Tuesday.

Betsai Hipolito scored six to lead the Lady Raiders, and Avery Skyles scored four.

Southeast plays Heritage at home at 7 p.m. Friday.
