Boys Greenforest Christian 64, Christian Heritage 60

Christian Heritage (20-5) came up just short in the Region 7-A DII championship game Tuesday night, falling to Greenforest Christian (22-4) 64-60.

The Lions, which had no trouble with any of the region's other teams, lost to Greenforest in the regular season and were unable to get revenge in the region finals.

Christian Heritage will still head into the Class A DII state playoffs as the region's second seed and will receive a home playoff game.

Jax Abernathy led Christian Heritage Tuesday with 18 points. Carter Triplett had 16, and Dontae Crowder scored 13.

Girls Rockmart 46, North Murray 45

North Murray (12-12) had its season end in heartbreaking fashion Tuesday at the Region 7-2A tournament.

Rockmart (17-8) hit the tying and go-ahead free throws with four seconds left to defeat North Murray 46-45 in the Region 7-2A quarterfinals.

An Ava Robinette go-ahead putback with 22 seconds left put the Lady Mountaineers in front 45-44.

Rockmart nearly hit the go-ahead basket with 5.9 seconds left on a steal under the rim, but a layup rolled off. After two missed North Murray free throws, Rockmart was fouled on an inbounds pass with just four seconds left. Analee Morris hit the two clutch free throws.

Robinette scored seven North Murray points in the fourth quarter and finished with 27 points.

North Murray ends the year at 12-12, and Rockmart advances to the region semifinals Thursday.

Heritage 48, Northwest Whitfield 42

Northwest Whitfield (14-11) fell 48-42 to Heritage (19-5) in the semifinals of the Region 7-4A tournament in Rome on Tuesday.

Northwest led 42-41 with 2:12 to go, but Heritage scored the last seven points to take the win and advance to the Region finals.

Northwest will play Cedartown Thursday at 6 p.m. in the third-place game. The Lady Bruins are assured a state playoff berth and will play Cedartown to determine which team gets the third seed and which gets the fourth.

Sloan Pender led Northwest with 18 points, while Kennedy Baker put in 14.
