Hibs have to show patience towards a manager after high turnover in recent years, according to Billy Dodds.
The club have sacked four managers since November 2019, with Paul Heckingbottom, Jack Ross, Shaun Maloney and Lee Johnson all departing Easter Road.
"I would like to see Hibs make sure they try to give a manager – I’m not saying Montgomery is the right one, I don’t know – but there seems to be a turnover of managers there," Sportscene pundit Dodds said.
"But they’re going to have to give someone a chance, because the turnover has been incredible.
"Something’s got to stop, they can’t just allow a manager six months, say results have not been great, then move onto the next.
"I’d like to see them give Montgomery patience, but he’s got to start nailing results because it’s a results-driven game.
"And then it’s the manner of the results, there was no fight [against St Mirren] and the manager seemed quite down after the day, so they’ve got to get it going quickly."
