Hibriten girls dominate Freedom

Feb. 6—The Hibriten girls' basketball game toppled Freedom 54-37 on Friday.

With the win, the Panthers improved to 15-3 overall and 4-2 in Northwestern 3A/4A Conference play, while Freedom fell to 11-8 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Jada Brown scored six of team-high 20 points in the first quarter, and the Panthers led 18-8 going into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, Freedom outscored the Panthers 16-13, but Hibriten still led 31-24 at halftime.

At the start of the second half, Brown scored eight points of the Panthers' 14 points in the quarter.

The Panthers also limited the Patriots to fourth points in the third quarter and led 45-28 going into the fourth quarter.

With their lead secured, the Panthers had no problems in the fourth quarter and won the game 54-37.

Aamori Patterson scored 13 points for the Panthers, while Karlee Starnes contributed eight points.

The Patriots' Peyton Caldwell finished with a game-high 23 points.

Hibriten is back on the court Tuesday when the Panthers travel to Ashe County (12-7, 4-2).

The Panthers defeated the Huskies 56-54 on Jan. 18.
