Here's Why You Won't See Ben Weinstein On 'My Unorthodox Life' S2

The second drama-filled season of My Unorthodox Life just dropped on Netflix and there are some big changes afoot in the world of fashion mogul Julia Haart. For one, Julia is going through an intense separation and then divorce from her former husband, Silvio Scaglia—and so is her daughter, Batsheva Haart. In fact, there's a really sweet scene in the first episode where Julia climbs into bed with Batsheva while Silvio is moving out of their Manhattan penthouse. The two discuss how weird it is to no longer wear their (massive) wedding rings.

As you might remember, season 1 featured Batsheva and her husband Ben Weinstein as a happily, beautiful married couple who experience what seem like the normal trials and tribulations lots of young couples go through. However, Ben visibly struggled with Batsheva's adoption of some unorthodox practices, like wearing pants, and the two disagreed on when to start having children. But Ben still seemed to want to be supportive. Now, the two have officially called it quits, and Batsheva is sharing some details about what went wrong on the new season.

Ben, who played a pretty big role in season 1, is now nowhere to be seen, which leaves everyone wondering: Where is Ben now and how did things get to this point? Here’s the deal.

They got married when Batsheva was just 19.

Just to recap, this couple had been together at a very young age. They revealed on season 1 of My Unorthodox Life, that Batsheva was just 19, which she references frequently throughout the show. Still, they appeared to want a lot of the same things, and Ben was willing to try some unorthodox ways of living to please his wife.

"I don't regret getting married young because who I married, but I would not recommend getting married young," Ben said in a YouTube Q&A last year. “I never like to say I regret anything in my life, but if circumstances happened again, I definitely would not get married so young,” Batsheva added. “Getting married at 19 is too young."

He appears on season 1 as a very devoted husband.

Viewers saw Ben living in New York City with his wife, but he also made it clear that he was still adjusting to life outside his Orthodox upbringing. In one scene. Batsheva came into their kitchen wearing pants and he visibly struggled, but still tried to be supportive. (Orthodox Jewish women are not permitted to wear pants, because they’re not considered modest.)

In October 2020, Batsheva gave him a shout-out on Instagram, with several sweet photos of the two.

Why did Batsheva and Ben get divorced?

The two shared a joint statement about their breakup on social media last year.

"After time and consideration we have made the decision to separate," the statement says, per People. "We have so much love and respect for each other but have realized that it is time to take some space to ensure that each of us lives the most joyous, fulfilling lives possible. There are no secrets nor salacious events to blame. We are just two best friends who met at a very young age and have grown over the past 9 years each in our own way. We so appreciate your continuous support as we embark on upon this new chapter of our lives, separately."

Batsheva shared a little more insight in the first episode of season 2, saying that they ultimately just wanted different things. Ben wanted a modern Orthodox family and wanted to keep kosher (follow dietary rules in Jewish law), and Batsheva wasn't ready to start a family and isn’t religious anymore.

Why isn’t Ben on season 2 of My Unorthodox Life?

Well, for starters, he and Batsheva are divorced now, and the show is technically about her family. It’s not clear if he was invited to be on the second season and declined or if it wasn’t even an option.

He was a real estate agent in New York.

Ben worked for Real NY as a real estate agent, a job he held a few years ago. Apparently his bio wasn't updated for a while because it still says this: “He has been married to his high school sweetheart for six years.”

Ben has now been doing some men's styling work, according to his Instagram bio.

Ben is doing some fashion influencing.

Even though he's no longer present in the Haart-osphere, Ben definitely took some social clout with him. And he seems like he is into the world of fashion influencing these days, at least based on his Instagram dedicated to his various outfits and men's styling tips, called @bensstyleseries.

Ben's been traveling a lot.

His Instagram account is packed with photos of himself traveling post-breakup. He recently went to Dubai and dropped a ton of photos from his journeys. Ben definitely looks like he's been enjoying himself!

He’s about to turn 30.

Ben’s birthday is in January, so it’s coming up:

Worth noting: While Batsheva moved in with her mom after the divorce, Ben seems to have moved into a new apartment of his own.
