*Spoilers for Euphoria season 2 below!*

Euphoria is back in full swing... literally. The highly-anticipated season 2 premiere of HBO's hit teen drama wasted no time in kicking off with chaos. In true Euphoria fashion, the first episode dived into the story of Fez, East Highland's drug dealer. He wasn't always in the business, but started at a young age as his grandma took him under her wing. Fans also got a glimpse into how his young business partner, Ashtray, came into the picture.

Naturally, season 2 started with a packed house party for New Year's Eve where Maddy pulled up in a fabulous look, Jules was looking for Rue, and Nate caused a little (okay, a lot of) trouble. By the end of the episode, he was brutally beaten up by Fez, who initially spent a majority of the party talking to Lexi on the couch. Some fans expressed that Nate had it coming on social media, but if you're one of the viewers who need a bit of a refresher on why it even went down, look no further.

What happened at the party?

From Lexi's perspective, we see Fez as he gears up for an escape. After calling Ashtray and telling him to start the car, he took off his sweater and headed to the kitchen, where Nate was drinking a beer. It's apparent in Lexi's facial expression as she watches Fez that something's about to go down. Fez grabs a drink and talks to Nate, who recalls that he threatened to kill him the last time they spoke. They then say "cheers" for a drink as Fez smashes a liquor bottle to Nate's head and starts throwing punches.

At the end of the episode, it's unclear whether Nate is alive as Maddy, McKay, and others carry him away to Cutting Crew's song, "(I Just) Died in Your Arms." According to Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate, we see more of his life at home — so this may not be the end for him just yet.

What led Fez to beat up Nate?

In season 1, Nate caused a lot of trouble for multiple characters, including Jules, who he catfished as a revenge tactic for sleeping with his dad. At the time, Jules had been keeping her distance from Rue, who had a feeling that what went down between Jules and Nate had something to do with it. During a visit with Fez, Rue asks him to intimidate Nate into leaving Jules alone with a gun. Fez refuses to use a weapon, but he confronts Nate when he stops by the convenience store he works at. He explains that Rue is his family and that he wants Nate to stay away from Rue and her friends. Nate was then threatened and insulted Fez by calling him a dropout that will "never amount to anything." During the scene, Fez remains calm but reiterates to Nate that if he messes with Rules again, he'll be met with his demise.

At the end of the season 1 episode, Nate heads to the police station and reports a crime — it's not revealed what he says exactly, but Fez's house then gets raided by the cops, which forces him to get rid of the drug stash for his business.

So, there you have it, folks. It seems that Fez was getting back at Nate for all the trouble he caused him and his family. We'll have to wait till next week to see what else happens between these two.
