A few notes on Derrick Rose’s ankle injury:

Rose’s injury is not due to overuse or a heavy minute load this season, per SNY sources. Rose has been dealing with discomfort in his ankle for several years, a source confirmed.

The discomfort had flared up on occasion at certain points over the past several seasons, including this season, sources said. So Wednesday’s surgery was an effort to clean up the nagging issue and avoid any future discomfort/flare-ups, per SNY sources.

The surgery was not a reaction to any recent broken ankle bone or recently damaged ligament, sources say.

The Knicks said on Wednesday that Rose will be reevaluated in eight weeks.

The Daily News first reported that Rose’s ankle had been bothering him sporadically.
