Hensley Meulens is not returning as Mets bench coach in 2021, SNY's Andy Martino has confirmed.
Meulens was originally brought into the Mets organization when they hired Carlos Beltran to be their manager last year. However, once the team moved on to Luis Rojas, they still kept Meulens.
Now the Mets will look for a new bench coach as they continue to revamp their entire front office and clubhouse amid Steve Cohen's purchase of the franchise.
Meulens spent 10 seasons with the San Francisco Giants as their hitting coach from 2010-2019 — winning three World Series Championships in the process.
As a player, Meulens held stints with the Yankees, Montreal Expos and Arizona Diamondbacks, and played overseas as well.
