Rangers, Capitals and all NHL fans should all rejoice and smile Friday, as Henrik Lundqvist announced on his social media platforms that he underwent open heart surgery and that it "went really well."

Lundqvist was set to play his first season away from the Rangers in 15 years for the Washington Capitals, but a surprise heart condition will require "King Henrik" to step away from the game.

The five-time All-Star and 2012 Vezina Trophy winner hasn't officially retired from hockey just yet, but there are surely some other things coming to his mind first.
