The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has named the man who died in a recent homicide case.

Hendersonville’s Daniel Case, 47, “died as a result of a gun shot wound in a remote mountainous area of Henderson County,” according to a Facebook post from the Sheriff’s Office.

“During the investigation, Detectives were able to identify Shane Archie Waters and Cecelia Ann Goodman as suspects in the disappearance and death of Daniel Case,” the post says. “Waters and Goodman were quickly taken into custody without further incident and charged with the earlier reported crimes.”

The agency has released few details in the case, and has said that it will not elaborate until adjudication in court in “an effort to preserve the integrity of this investigation.”

The case started as a missing person investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office charged Waters with second degree homicide and Goodman with accessory after the fact. Both are from Saluda.

They made their first appearances in court Dec. 2, according to the clerk of court’s office.
