'I heard a YES': Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani are engaged

Together, singers Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton can be "Happy Anywhere."

They are even happier today, as the two announced they are engaged.

Shelton, 44, tweeted the news Tuesday afternoon, writing: "Hey @gwenstefani thanks for saving my 2020... And the rest of my life.. I love you. I heard a YES!"

Within 10 minutes, the tweet already had 8,000 likes.

The two have been a couple for about five years, getting together shortly after Shelton divorced Miranda Lambert. This will be his third marriage.

Stefani, 51, was previously married to Gavin Rossdale. The two officially split in 2016. They have three children together.

Shelton and Stefani got to know each other while working on NBC's "The Voice." In a 2017 interview on NBC's "Today," Shelton acknowledged that many fans were perplexed when they became a couple.

"In people’s defense, I think it’s so hard for people to wrap their head around why Gwen would want to be with me," he said. "I don’t blame ’em."

During an appearance on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" last year, Stefani gushed about how Shelton, who is from Oklahoma, impressed her parents, city folks who hail from California.

"We're, like, driving, and Blake's in his truck and there's a tree that had, like, been blown down in the road," she said. "And Blake gets out, and he's like, 'All right.' And he gets in the back of the truck. He has, like, a big chain and he pulls it out. He wraps it around the tree, and my whole family is, like, 'Oh my God, he's a man!'"

In a July interview on "Today," Shelton said he was working hard to be a positive role model for Stefani's three boys: 14-year-old Kingston, 11-year-old Zuma and 6-year-old Apollo.

During the interview, "Today" host Hoda Kotb asked Shelton about Stefani's Instagram post from Father's Day, in which she thanked Shelton for "helping me raise these boys!!"

"That’s a scary moment for me, because it’s one thing for me to be with the kids all the time and be their buddy," Shelton said. "But then you do have to consider after awhile, that they're starting to listen to things that you say, and there’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that, which is new to me."

Celebrities were quick to congratulate the couple, who teamed up this year on songs "Nobody But You" and "Happy Anywhere."

John Legend wrote on Twitter: "Congratulations! Amazing news!!!!"

On Instagram, Dua Lipa said "Congratulations!!! Best news" while OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder wrote "WOWWWWWWW CONGRAAAAAATS."
