Hartwick women rally at home; Oneonta holds off Fredonia

Feb. 6—The Hartwick women's basketball team recovered from a slow start Tuesday to defeat Russell Sage 53-42 at home.

Held to just four points in the first quarter, the Hawks were able to tie things up heading into halftime and pulled ahead in the second half to earn the victory.

Sareena DiCerbo had a team-high 15 points to go with seven rebounds while Isabella Astorino notched a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds as well as four assists.

Bree Fargnoli added 11 points and five assists in the win.

Hartwick (10-12 overall, 7-6 Empire 8) will visit Elmira Friday.

SUNY Oneonta 50, Fredonia 48

SUNY Oneonta held off Fredonia for a 50-48 road victory Tuesday.

Jenna Harclerode led the Red Dragons with 22 points while adding nine rebounds.

Molly Stephens, meanwhile, had 14 rebounds and six assists, Emma Schwarzbeck notched seven points and nine rebounds and Sophia Wakin pulled down eight rebounds.

Oneonta (10-12 overall, 8-7 SUNYAC) will host SUNY New Paltz this Saturday.


SUNY Oneonta 66, Fredonia 59

The SUNY Oneonta men earned an important SUNYAC win on the road Tuesday, defeating Fredonia 66-59.

PJ Laidley had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Red Dragons' offense.

Elsewhere, Caleb Brown scored 11 points, Xavier Hill had eight points and nine rebounds and Delano Knox registered eight points and five boards.

Oneonta (11-12 overall, 8-7 SUNYAC) will be at home against SUNY New Paltz Saturday.

Hartwick dropped an 86-74 decision at home to Russell Sage Tuesday night.

Daniel Oyedrian led the Hawks with 21 points in the loss while Shea Barber scored 18 points, Malachi Polson had 11 points and six assists and Xymier Thomas finished with 11 points and six rebounds.

Hartwick (1-19 overall, 0-13 Empire 8) will visit Elmira Friday.
