Happy Thanksgiving to our American friends! The NHL takes Thursday off (even the Canadian teams) so instead of the usual busy nights of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, it’s a heavy Wednesday and Friday slate with 14 games on Wednesday and another 13 on Friday.

COVID has taken its toll on teams like Pittsburgh and San Jose but none have been as bad as the Ottawa Senators. The NHL was forced to postpone three games this past week as 10 players are in COVID protocol and this week’s matchup against Colorado is still in doubt. Despite being 100 percent vaccinated, the Senators have had 40 percent of the team test positive as well as associate coach Jack Capuano. The good news is that no one seems to be having any lingering effects.

Troy Terry is one of the top stories this season in the NHL...The 24-year-old was a fifth-round pick back in 2015 and his previous best season was last year when he had seven goals and 20 points in 48 games. Well, after he was held pointless in the Ducks opener, Terry has reeled off a 16-game scoring streak, already picking up career high 12 goals and 22 points...He has been helped by Ryan Getzlaf who is having a comeback season as he has a goal and 19 points in 18 games. Getzlaf also has beaten his last season total of 17 points in 48 games and the duo, along with goaltender John Gibson have been the big reason why the Ducks are 10-5-3 in the Pacific and in a playoff spot when most thought they would finish seventh or last in the Division.
