What Happened to Jeffrey Dahmer's Apartment?Netflix

In 1991, police found 11 bodies in Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment, marking the end of his highly publicized killing spree. The location is once again garnering attention, thanks to Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, a limited series on Netflix dramatizing the lives of his victims. Since most of the murders occurred within the walls of Dahmer's apartment, fans of the shocking series have started wondering just what happened to the building after the gruesome killings.

Suffice it to say, the building is no longer there. Jeffrey Dahmer really did live in Apt. 213 at 924 North 25th Street, Milwaukee, Wi. FBI photos from the time of his arrest even detailed a scene disturbingly accurate to the set of Monster. Dahmer owned the beige couch, vintage fish tank, a roll of carpet on the floor, a tiny analog television, and a barrel of acid. According to Newsweek, the entire 49-unit complex was dismantled some 15 months after his arrest at the request of the victim's families. Not only were there nasty blood stains in Jeffrey's room, but it was (obviously) a struggle to rent out an apartment building where one of the most sensationalized serial killers of all time killed 11 people. At the time, The New York Times described it as a "killing factory."

You can see what the outside of the apartment building used to look like, thanks to an avid ghost tour and serial killer aficionado on YouTube who goes by the name Shakers Milwaukee. A "collaborative neighborhood redevelopment initiative" called the Campus Circle Project purchased the space for $325,000 with the help of Marquette University back in 1995, but nothing seemingly came about. They did help all of the building's tenants find new places to live, according to The Tab, which was certainly the right thing too. For a time, the area was almost converted into a children's playground.

Now, the spot is just a large empty lot. You can technically go there—should you choose to visit such a haunting place—but a Street Views on Google Maps will show that it's pretty much just grass now. There is an entire apartment complex right next to the lot, however, which might even be too close for me. Hell, I might not even want to live in a four-block radius.
