Hampton bank robbery ends in arrest. Man also suspected in Lee bank robbery.

HAMPTON — A suspect in a bank robbery was arrested Monday. Police say he didn't get far after the alleged crime, and he is believed to be the suspect in a recent robbery in Lee as well.

Hampton Deputy Police Chief Alex Reno said police responded to Service Credit Union on Lafayette Road (Route 1) about 2:41 p.m.

Reno said police, coordinating with the FBI, arrested Eric Mohan, 47, of Manchester, in front of the bank "after he committed a robbery.”

Mohan is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at Rockingham Superior Court.

Lee Police Chief Thomas Dronsfield said Monday night the FBI informed him the suspect in the Hampton robbery is believed to be the same man who robbed a Northeast Credit Union March 28 in Lee. Dronsfield had previously said the suspect was believed to be "involved in several bank robberies between New Hampshire and Massachusetts."

The suspect in an armed robbery at Northeast Credit Union in Lee is seen in this surveillance image Monday, March 28 from the bank, according to police. Lee's police chief says the suspect is believed to be the same person arrested for a robbery Monday, April 5 in Hampton, at a Service Credit Union.

Bank robbery is a Class A felony, Reno said. If convicted of the crime in Hampton, Mohan would face a possible prison sentence of 7½ to 15 years.

Reno said he could not provide more specific information concerning the alleged robbery because the case is still under investigation. He directed inquiries to the FBI’s Boston office.

Massachusetts fugitive also arrested in Hampton

Prior to the afternoon bank robbery in Hampton, Reno said, police officers responded to a call from the U.S. Marshal’s Service requesting help taking a wanted fugitive into custody.

Carlos Javier Jimenez, 29, of Randolph, Massachusetts, was arrested at 2:17 p.m.

Police said Jimenez was wanted on seven felony counts in Massachusetts, including two for assault and battery on a household member, and one each for larceny, witness intimidation, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon and breaking and entering a building at night.

Jimenez also faces eight misdemeanor charges, including two counts of operating after license suspension, and one count each for drug possession, leaving the scene of property damage, use of a motor vehicle without authority, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs and allowing and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

According to Reno, Jimenez was staying at one of the units at the Dunvegan Woods condominium complex on High Street.

Earlier Monday, along with the Hampton Fire Department, Hampton police responded to a structure fire at 19 Perkins Avenue at the beach.

“You could say it’s been a very busy day,” Reno said.
