- On the evening of January 2, 2023, the last thing we expected was Damar Hamlin back this quickly. He was expired on the field, heart stopped, CPR necessary. He was out of it for a few days. It was touch and go. We didn't know that he was going to be OK, much less ever play football again.

And then the sound started to creep out. There was a doctor from the NFLPA that said I fully expect him to play again. The NFL was a little more cautious. And then one little piece at a time, here we are, Damar Hamlin cleared, back on the field. There he is at OTA practice, an amazing development, unexpected, one of the most unexpected twists that I've seen. All he's got to do is put on a uniform and step on a field one time in the regular season and he's the Comeback Player of the Year for 2023.

- Yeah. You're probably right about that. You're right. I mean, it's an amazing story. It really is. It's awesome to see. It's great for the Bills organization, unbelievable for Damar Hamlin. Again, I hope it shows people too, what jumps out to me is just, hey, football players love playing football. They do, and this is one of those guys. He misses the sport.

Here he is dead on a field. Here we are five months later, the first chance he can get on the practice field, and he's like, please, I want on badly. I want on badly. I know the feeling. I've been there, not that I was dead, but I was dying and I still was like, damn, I can't wait to get back out there on that football field. That's, I'm sure, awesome for his physical and mental recovery and his quality of life. So so happy for Damar Hamlin.

- Yeah, unbelievable turn of events, and one of the stories we'll be watching as the season begins and Damar Hamlin, who had developed into a key piece of that Bill's defense, will be back and ready to help that team try to get over the top in 2023.
