TSN's Bob McKenzie reported that Nyquist agreed to a four-year, $21 million contract with the Blue Jackets.

The team later confirmed that Nyquist had signed a four-year deal but wouldn't release financial terms.
Nyquist played in 19 regular-season games with the Sharks after being acquired in a February trade with the Detroit Red Wings, totaling six goals and five assists in those contests. He then appeared in all 20 playoff games, tallying one goal and 10 assists before San Jose was eliminated by the eventual Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues in the Western Conference final.
