Guardians' split squads have split results at spring training

Mar. 18—The Guardians had split squads go against the Diamondbacks and Mariners on March 18, with a 6-4 loss to Arizona and a 5-4 win over Seattle.

Against the Diamondbacks, Brayan Rocchio went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs, and Roman Quinn contributed a 2-for-4 day with a run and a pair of steals.

Cal Quantrill had a rough go of it, allowing four runs on six hits in three innings. Reliever Luis Oviedo was a bright spot, though, with two perfect innings, striking out two.

Against the Mariners, Emmanuel Clase had a lively ninth, with Seattle loading the bases and scoring three runs, but got out of the jam.

It nearly spoiled a sharp outing from Zach Plesac (1-1). He went 6 1/3 innings, yielding one run on three hits, walking one and striking out four.

Josh Bell belted his second home run of the spring, a solo shot in the sixth. Steven Kwan went 1-for-3 with a walk, run and two RBI.

The Guardians host the Rockies at 4:05 p.m. March 19.
