There’s a certain ‘us against the world’ mentality that Greg Schiano likes from his team on the road, and it shows.

Rutgers football (5-5, 2-5 Big Ten) has both of its conference wins this year on the road. Last year, all three of their wins came on the road. While it is concerning that Rutgers isn’t winning at home, it certainly is a positive that the Scarlet Knights are getting results at Big Ten venues.

Now on Saturday, they face a very strong Penn State (6-4, 3-4 Big Ten) program in Happy Valley.

“I mean we’ve shown I think that the road doesn’t really affect us one way or the other,” Schiano told reporters on Monday.

“We’re going [to] go out and do the best we can. We played at Michigan and I thought, you know, didn’t win the game but played well. That’s a big crowd. You know,

“I like it. Personally, I love when you take your team on the road. It’s just your 74 guys and your staff and away you go and there is a little bit of us against the world. So that’s fun. This will be a great opportunity; they’re a real good team though. So playing them on the road, playing at home it wouldn’t matter they’re very good.”

Rutgers is one win away from bowl eligibility. They play Penn State on Saturday and then host Maryland the following Saturday in their finale home game of the season.
