"I knew it would be Marquette, like three days after I got home from my last visit there," Elliott said. " That's where I felt more I was home away from home. Playing with Jamal Cain played a big part in it as well."

Cain is the top player in the state of Michigan, from Detroit Cornerstone, and has played AAU basketball with Elliott for years. The two of close friends, and played on the same team together in the Mitten Classic all-star game over the weekend. Ike Eke of University of Detroit Jesuit is also committed to Marquette, and he also played on the all-star team and AAU with Elliott and Cain.

"It played a big part in my commitment," Elliott said on Cain being already committed to Marquette. "Knowing that I would be playing with one of m closest friends again, and knowing he will push me no matter what, to achieve my goals."

Elliott's recruitment picked up tremendously over the last few months, going from having mid-major offers, to having Michigan State and Providence covet his services. Many believed Elliot would head to East Lansing, but ultimately he chose his close friendships over the Spartans.

"I didn't choose MSU, because I really wasn't as comfortable there as I thought I would be," Elliott said.
