Since joining Inter Miami last summer globally renowned superstar Lionel Messi -- the biggest signing in Major League Soccer history -- has proved to be a financial windfall for the league and club, and a lift for the stature of American soccer. He has transformed Inter Miami from being a young franchise barely on the radar to the biggest team in the league.

By some measures, Messi’s time in Miami already has been an unequivocal success no matter what happens from here.

From another vantage, though, Messi must make Inter Miami an MLS Cup winner, a league champion, for his time here to truly be a complete success.
