The Green Bay Packers released former Wisconsin Badger offensive lineman Cole Van Lanen today as they work to get their roster down to 53 players.

The Packers’ sixth-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft figures to drop to the team’s practice squad and wait for another opportunity to fill in on the active roster.

Unfortunately for both Badger and Packer fans, the great story that was the Green Bay native Van Lanen starring at Wisconsin for years and then heading north to fulfill his NFL dream with his hometown team will not yet totally come to fruition.

If we have seen anything from former Wisconsin offensive linemen over the years, though, we know Van Lanen and his versatility have a good at making an impact on an NFL roster sometime in the future.
