Graham boys begin Region 2D play tonight; girls play home Wednesday

Feb. 19—BLUEFIELD, Va. — On Wednesday, the Graham High School girls basketball team will host a regional tournament game for the first time since 2016. But first, the Graham boys will take the wrapper off of regional play tonight.

The G-Men will play Central Wise in a first round game in this week's VHSL Region 2D boys basketball tournament, which opens at satellite sites tonight. Action tips off at Graham Middle School at 6 p.m.

In other boys openers, Marion travels to Gate City for a 6:30 p.m. game, Ridgeview will take on Virginia High in Bristol, Va. at 6 p.m. and Lebanon will face Union at 6 p.m. in Big Stone Gap, Va.

The winner of tonight's Graham-Central game will advance to face either Gate City or Marion in Thursday's regional semifinals. The finals are set for Saturday.

The VHSL Region 2D girls basketball tournament tips begins Wednesday. The G-Girls have been led back to regional play under second-year head coach Devontae Royal. Graham will face Gate City at Graham Middle School. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

In other opening round satellite games on Wednesday, Marion will travel to Ridgeview for a 6 p.m. game, Union will travel to Virginia High for a 6 p.m. game and Richlands will travel to Central Wise for a 6 p.m. game.

The winner of the Graham-Gate City opener will face either Central or Richlands in Friday's 7:30 p.m. regional semifinal game at Virginia-Wise.
