Goshen City FC set to host five games in 2024 encore season

Mar. 6—Reaching the United Premier Soccer League Midwest Central Conference Finals in its first season, Goshen's semi-pro soccer team is back for its second season.

Goshen City FC, coached by second-year head coach and Goshen native Tyler Born, will welcome in major conference teams this season and hope to improve from the 5-2-3 regular season mark from a season ago.

"We are looking to build our community efforts, build our on-the-field performance, and build a strong bond as a group," Born said in a press release. "We are already experiencing many opportunities for our club to grow in year two and now the expectations turn to the work on the pitch."

Losing to Chicago Nation FC last year 3-0 to end the season, Goshen City will now host the football club May 4 in a game that highlights the 11-game schedule which also includes a Friendly Match with 1927 Fort Wayne Sport Club at Goshen High School April 14.

Goshen's team will kick off the encore season with a home match against Chicago Fire Academy April 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Goshen College Soccer Complex. The MLS's team Chicago Fire have introduced an Academy team for its debut season.

Completing the home schedule is Berber City FC (May 11, 7 p.m.), Windy City Rampage (May 25, 7 p.m.) and Indiana United (June 8, 7 p.m.).

Away games include Allegiant Hammond (April 21), Black Cat FC (April 27), Chicago Strikers (May 18), KS Wisloka Chicago (June 1) and Urbana City FC (June 15).

Team founder, president and assistant coach Henrique Eichenberger will also return after bringing the team to life last season.
