Gordon Hayward injury: Hornets star out indefinitely with shoulder injury
Hayward reportedly out indefinitely, will miss upcoming Celtics-Hornets game originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston
Gordon Hayward's bad injury luck has continued, and he's going to miss a good chunk of the Charlotte Hornets' upcoming schedule.
The former All-Star guard is out indefinitely after suffering a fracture in his left shoulder, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Friday night.
The 32-year-old veteran did not play Friday night in the Hornets' win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Hayward's wife, Robyn, said in an Instagram post Friday that he played through the injury in the Hornets' previous game Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers. She also specified that Hayward has a fractured scapula.
Hayward is averaging 16.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game this season.
He has played in 104 of a possible 174 regular season games since signing a four-year, $120 million contract with the Hornets in the summer of 2020. He joined the Hornets as a free agent after three injury-plagued seasons with the Boston Celtics.
Hayward's shoulder injury will keep him out of the lineup when the Hornets play the Celtics in Boston on Monday night.
