Gophers football: Linebacker Cody Lindenberg out vs. Purdue
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Gophers linebackers continued to fall this week.
Cody Lindenberg was listed as questionable but didn’t play against Purdue at Ross-Ade Stadium on Saturday. Then during the first quarter, Maverick Baranowski suffered a right shoulder injury, according to KFAN, and he didn’t return.
This brought the U down to true freshman linebacker Matt Kingsbury, whom has been impressive to defensive coordinator Joe Rossi but wasn’t expected to play this soon.
Lindenberg made his season debut in the 27-26 loss to Illinois last week, produced a team-high 11 tackles and a forced a fumble. He missed the first seven games with a leg injury and a setback during his rehab.
Besides Lindenberg, the Gophers were without safety Aidan Gousby for the first time this season.
Running back Darius Taylor missed his third-straight game.
The best news for the Gophers is starting guard Tyler Cooper is set to return after a two-game absence.
