Defensive end Genard Avery, who was carted off the practice field in tears Wednesday with a scary-looking right knee or leg injury, was apparently not seriously hurt.
The Eagles on Thursday morning listed Avery as day-to-day with a lower-body injury, which generally means he's expected to be back at practice in less than a week.
Avery, who the Eagles acquired from the Browns in a trade-deadline deal for a 4th-round pick, did not practice on Thursday, and the Eagles are off on Friday.
Another edge rusher, Joe Ostman, who has enjoyed a very good training camp, was also out Thursday with a lower-body injury.
Left tackle Andre Dillard, who left practice early Sunday with an upper-body injury and then returned to practice on Tuesday, came out for warm-ups Thursday but did not participate in team drills and went inside before practiced ended.
Jordan Mailata did return to practice after missing two days and was taking reps at left tackle in place of Dillard. Matt Pryor was taking reps at right tackle, so with Peters out Nate Herbig was getting reps with the first unit at right guard.
