Add another preseason honor for to a growing list for Illinois' Terrence Shannon Jr. this year. The veteran guard was one of 20 players named to the watch list for the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Player of the Year award. Shannon was one of four Big Ten players honored.
The NABC Player of the Year watch list is simply one of many preseason honors for Shannon. The Chicago native was a preseason All-Big Ten selection, while also earning a spot on the Jerry West Award watch list for the nation's top shooting guard to go with preseason All-American recognition by Fox Sports, CBS Sports and Blue Ribbon.
Shannon averaged 17.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals last season, earning First Team All-Big Ten honors. He ranked seventh in the Big Ten in scoring and had 11 games of 20-plus points.
