It has been a whirlwind of a season and we knew it was always going to be.

The season so far has been an eye-opener for Eddie Howe. This is new territory and he would have learned a lot from the big win over Paris St-Germain, but also from the loss to Bournemouth.

In September, I said that if we could be in the top eight by Christmas we would kick on from there. We are eighth and have players returning, so I think we can definitely push up the table.

The Magpies are in good hands and going in the right direction, while the new huge kit deal will help the club kick on again next summer.

As ever, the fans have been outstanding, following both near and far. For away nights in Europe, they have been unreal.

On the negative side, the squad has had a nightmare few months with Sandro Tonali’s suspension not even the biggest talking point.

Fourteen injuries suffered to key players has been more than unfortunate - how we continued to win throughout I will never know.
