Add finding a sponsor for the former Quicken Loans National to the PGA Tour's to-do list this offseason. The Washington, D.C.-based tournament, which is often played at Congressional Country Club, will not be played there in 2018 or 2020, according to a report. It was slated to be played at Congressional in both of those years with a stop at a yet-to-be-determined location in 2019. The event is hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation, which also hosts the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles, and it apparently cannot find a title sponsor, thus the cutting of ties with Congressional. After failing to qualify for the Tour Championship, Rory McIlroy has added another start to his upcoming schedule. McIlroy has signed up for next week’s British Masters on the European Tour, an event hosted by one of his longtime friends, Lee Westwood. Battling a rib injury for all of 2017, McIlroy said at the PGA Championship that he was considering shutting it down for the rest of the year. Instead, because of “outside expectations,” he played the first three playoff events, and now will tee it up at the British Masters and the Dunhill Links (with his father, Gerry) in consecutive weeks.
